Musalia Mudavadi Speaks on Governor Mike Sonko's Impeachment

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi has added his voice in the contentious debate regarding Governor Mike Sonko's tenure at city hall.

Terming City Hall as "Tower of Babel", Mudavadi asked Jubilee government to take responsibility of the mess and save Kenyans the embarrassment in Nairobi, the country’s capital city.

In what appeared to be an indirect jibe at Sonko, Mudavadi quoted former US President J. F. Kennedy indicating that: "the ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all."

Mudavadi further opined that "What is happening in Nairobi is a wake-up call, not just for Nairobi voters but all voters in the country."

Reports by Standard indicate that there is growing discomfort within the Jubilee Party with some leaders calling on making good the threat to impeach Sonko.

The situation at City Hall escalated to worse last week after the premises was plunged into darkness after power disconnecting due to a Ksh990 million debt.

Sonko has however pointed fingers at some leaders in the national government accusing the meddling with the county's affairs.

The Standard further quoted a source at City Hall alleging that the recent power cut was being masterminded by the same individuals behind a fake impeachment petition that was doing rounds earlier in the week.

"The national government owes us at minimum Ksh100 billion especially in land rates but you haven’t seen us clamp down their building, have you?" the source lamented.

Terming the recent woes as pure politics meant to paint City Hall in bad light, the source indicated that the power cut was the latest addition to a string of actions meant to frustrate the governor.

Sonko has however in the past dared his political rivals to go ahead and impeach him elaborating that Nairobi county is unique hence "cannot be transformed into a Dubai in six months".

"Any county can impeach their boss, but what mistake have I committed? I have kept cool for long enough so if they want us to play politics, it is game on," Sonko quipped.
