Miguna Miguna's nomination as deputy governor will be tabled this week at the Nairobi County Assembly, speaker Beatrice Elachi has disclosed.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, Elachi stated that the debate on his nomination would be held even with the nominee out of the country.
“We will table the motion before the assembly this week, I don’t want to talk much about it as it is a matter to be discussed before all members of the County Assembly.

“Once it is tabled this week then from there it will move according to the Standing Orders,” she explained.

Elachi added that the country would only succeed in fighting graft if everyone started to value public resources.
"The President is right as he says; let him and the Deputy President not shield anyone. About 2022, God knows best so let us not provoke Him.
"It is important for political leaders to be truthful. Most of the leaders go into a party; not because you want to but because the community is supporting that side," she maintained.
Miguna's nomination has been a source of contention in the Nairobi political scene with the Jubilee party Vice-chairman David Murathe threatening to initiate a process of impeaching Sonko.
On Sunday, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja affirmed that he would make sure any motion to carry out the impeachment would fail.
"There are individuals who want to stop the governor from transforming Nairobi. Let them know their schemes will not succeed. I will ensure the impeachment plan dies as soon as it reaches the Senate,” he stated.

Sakaja has, however, stated that Miguna would not become the Deputy governor disclosing: "Miguna will not become the Deputy Governor of Nairobi. Take that to the bank."
