Miguna Miguna is Perfect For Deputy Governor- Mike Sonko

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday night surprised many when he nominated troubled NRM general Miguna Miguna to be his deputy.

The governor went ahead to justify why he wanted the vocal advocate to be second in command saying he is a legitimate Kenyan and has what it takes to take the county to the next level.

"The nominee meets all the requirements provided for in the constitution, the leadership and integrity act, election act and the county government act," stated the governor.

Miguna is currently in Canada after the Ministry of immigration allegedly declined to clear him in time to allow his smooth return to the country that was scheduled for Wednesday.

In the statement, the lawyer indicated: "I was determined to arrive home on schedule, however, just before my departure, I reluctantly cancelled my flight to Nairobi and postponed my next arrival date.

"In view of the refusal by the Department of Immigration to issue me with a valid Kenyan passport and facilitate my unconditional re-entry into Kenya as ordered by the High Court and formally requested by the Kenya National Commission for Human Rights on my behalf, and on advice from legal counsel.

The deputy governor position has been vacant for the past four months after Polycarp Igathe resigned citing irreconcilable differences with his boss.

Since then, several names have been suggested and at one point, Sonko drafted a list of his potential picks.

The list included the likes of Nairobi Regeneration Committee Chairman John Gakuo, TV siren Anne Kiguta and Woman rep Esther Passaris among others.

Miguna and Sonko barely see each other eye to eye after the former described the county boss as a drug peddler who was not fit to lead the county.

The self-styled general vied for Nairobi governorship but failed and has since taken up the role of criticising the government which he claims is full of serial looters.

Sonko's choice might be a veiled message to top officials in government who were behind Miguna's deportation from Kenya.

Recently, the governor claimed that some government officials were fighting to bring him down as he has sealed all loopholes but vowed not to go down without a fight.
