ODM Reconctruction Plans to Curb Electoral Frauds

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chairman John Mbadi has revealed that the party was in a reconstruction process aimed at achieving free and credible party elections.

Speaking in Ndhiwa constituency, the legislator noted that the irregularities in the previous party nominations were defaming the party.

The Suba South MP disclosed that ODM is partaking reforms in its National Election Board (NEB) and other organs to safeguard the party from mishaps.

“We are unhappy with the flaws witnessed in some of our past nominations for electoral posts and we will ensure that this does not happen again,” he mentioned.

He further indicated that the party leadership was investigating reports that there were cartels messing up with nominations mostly in the Nyanza area.

Mbadi noted that the party will suspend any party officials who may have played a role in irregularities experienced.

“The party is dealing with past nomination messes and we will deal with those involved effectively,” he asserted.

In the changes, the party will adopt stringent guidelines to ensure that candidates meet the integrity test.

One of the measures that the aspirants will be required to meet is the submission of a certificate of clearance from the EACC.

“This time ODM primaries will not be about tibim and tialala alone. Aspirants must have a clearance certificate from the anti-graft agency before participating in the nominations,” he noted.

He also noted that the ODM MPs who are supporting the government officials involved in corruption cases will be removed from parliamentary committees.
