Controversial lawyer and self-declared NRM general Miguna Miguna has responded after Nairobi County Assembly declined his nomination as Deputy Governor.
Rejecting the nomination, Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi cited Article 78 of Constitution on dual citizenship on which Miguna's deportation saga revolves.
A tweep by the name Jerotich Seii had taken to Twitter indicating that following the declination, "Elachi's ignorance of constitutionalism and citizenship is evident".

Responding to the remark, Miguna indicated: "Comrade Jerotich, Elachi isn't ignorant. The choreographed malicious distractions are and have been deliberate from the beginning.
"The government knows that I am a Kenyan citizen by birth and I never lost it (citizenship). They have not tabled any credible evidence that I lost my citizenship.
Miguna further stated that in 2017, he had been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.
"I don't belong to any political outfit except the #NRMKe. I was a Kenyan registered voter in 2007, 2013 and 2017. I never applied for nor considered to be Mike Sonko's deputy.
Miguna further revisited the events leading to his deportation indicating that government agents "destroyed my house and passport, and abducted, detained, tortured, sedated and forced me into exile because they are scared of me and the #NRMKe. Period."
He further challenged the government to take the legal course to deal with him: "If I broke any law, let them take me to court. Silly propaganda won't work."
On his part, County boss Mike Sonko indicated: "I hereby wish to accept the decision of the Nairobi County Assembly rejecting the nomination of Dr Miguna Miguna as Nairobi Deputy Governor on the basis that he is a dual citizen as provided for under Article 78 of the Constitution.

"I am committed to respecting the decisions of the Nairobi County Assembly without reservations because they represent the sovereignty and infallible will of the Great People of Nairobi County.
"I shall present another qualified nominee to the County Assembly after due consultations to ensure Nairobi County gets a befitting Deputy Governor to support in service delivery," he concluded.
