Kisauni OCPD Sangura Musee confirmed the incident noting that he is consolidating information that will enable him to carry out an investigation on the issue.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to the Nation mentioned that the attack happened after the two officers visited the drug den where the criminals usually converge.

"The officers arrived here on a motorcycle. They went to the den only for us to see one of them down bleeding and the suspected criminal injured after he was shot by the other officer, " commented the witness.

He was with his colleague who shot at the attacker and two others who escaped with bullet wounds, according to police sources.

However, on Wednesday, the police announced that they were able to gun down two suspects of the gang suspected to have been involved in the death of the officer.

It is reported that last month, a Tanzanian was killed and three other people seriously injured by the same members of the machete-wielding gang.
