President Uhuru to Meet Governor Joho at The Coast

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho are set to let go their political differences in the spirit of the unity deal reached with the country’s lead opposition party.

The two are expected to end their denunciation of each other’s leadership when they meet on Thursday for the launch of the Dongo Kundu road in Mombasa.

The governor has been in Mecca but is understood to have travelled back into the country on Wednesday ahead of the Idd celebrations on Friday.

Mombasa County Communications Director Richard Chacha told Kenyans.co.ke that the governor will be present when the president officially opens the road on Thursday.

“The governor will be present at the opening of the Dongo Kundu road to be presided over by the President tomorrow (Thursday),” confirmed Chacha.

The President is also expected to join the governor during Friday’s Idd-Ul-Fitr celebrations. Mr Chacha indicated that Joho had not disclosed his plan for Idd but added he would welcome the Kenyatta when he visits the county.

Last month when the Governor hosted Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, he stated that he desired to meet the president and was ready to join his efforts in uniting the country alongside ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

Contractors were on Wednesday busy making final touches on the Dongo Kundu road that cost the taxpayer Sh11 Billion.

The construction works for the first phase of the road were started in 2016 and KeNHA recently opened it to the public ahead of the second phase.
