7 NYS Suspects Seek Medical Attention

Seven suspects of the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal have been granted their plea to seek medical attention by the court following an application that was filed by their various lawyers.

The court directed the Commissioner General of Prisons Isaya Osugo to refer  the ailing suspects to Kenyatta National Hospital, " as soon as when conditions dictate."

Among the individuals who divulged that they needed medical attention is James Thuita, a director of Firstling Supplies, a firm that allegedly received 1.48 billion from the institution.

In his application, the businessman informed the court that he has a heart condition which gas worsened following his incarceration.

Evon Wanjiku another suspect who applied for medical care told the court that she had a respiratory condition (asthmatic) that needed urgent medical attention.

Additionally, two other suspects Peter Kimani and Anthony Makara also applied for special medical care and change of diet.

On Tuesday, Lucy Wambui Ngirita, the mother to National Youth Suspect (NYS) scandal suspect Ann Ngirita was taken ill.

Wambui, who is also a suspect in the Ksh9 billion heist, had informed the anti-corruption court Magistrate Douglas Ogoti that she was sick and required medical attention.

Following her application, Judge Ogoti directed prison authorities to escort her to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for treatment.

Public Service Principal Secretary Lillian Mbogo Omollo on Wednesday left the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and was sent back to the Lang'ata Women's Prison.

She was discharged from the hospital after Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives established that her hospital stay was unwarranted.
