DCI Launches Probe on PS Lilian Omollo's Stay at KNH

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dispatched detectives to launch investigations into the continued stay of Youth Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Lillian Mbogo-Omollo in hospital. 

According to sources linked to Nation, the DCI's team is investigating both the Ministry of Health and the Prisons Department regarding the admission of the PS to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) which happened last week following claims that she fainted while in remand.

Reports divulge that the DCI intend to have an independent doctor to examine Ms Omollo to confirm whether she ought to remain at the facility or be taken back to remand.

On Thursday, KNH drafted a letter to the court requesting that she be excused from attending the court session.

The probe comes after details emerged of the luxurious stay of Ms Omollo in the hospital's penthouse. 

Additionally, there have been fears that she (the PS) is being protected from prison life by powerful colleagues. 

The detectives' investigations also follow queries raised by a section of Members of Parliament who noted that Ms Omollo "needs to join her colleagues at Lang'ata Women's Prison."

According to the Medical specialists who have handled the PS, Ms Omollo is noted to be generally healthy apart from her complaining of stomach ailment. 

She was remanded 10 days ago over the Ksh9 billion scandal at the National Youth Service (NYS) but was rushed to hospital straight from the courtroom after falling ill and fainting.

 A report on Thursday revealed how the PS, who is in the VIP section of KNH, has been living in considerably high-end life as her co-accused languish in jail.
