PS Lillian Omollo Rushed to Hospital

Public Service and Youth Affairs PS Lillian Omollo has been hospitalised hours after being remanded at Langa'ta Women Prisons.

Reports indicate that Omollo fainted on Tuesday night and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital but her lawyers representing are expected to file an application to have her moved from the referral hospital to one of her choice.

She is among the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal suspects who were ordered to remain in custody pending a bond hearing.

The suspended PS, NYS Director-General Richard Ndubai and 22 other suspects implicated in the NYS scam will spend at least one week in jail as they await a ruling on their bail application.

This is after anti-corruption Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti said he will deliver the on June 5.

The suspects, through their lawyers, on Tuesday pleaded with the court to be freed on bond, arguing that it was their constitutional right.

“Our client is no longer in office she stepped aside… she cannot interfere with ongoing investigations as purportedly said by the prosecution.

"If she was to influence witnesses, she would have done it from 2015,” Omollo's lawyer pleaded.

The prosecution, on the other hand, wanted them kept in custody as detectives complete their investigations.

They further argued that the evidence gathered was strong and sufficient to secure a conviction against all the accused persons hence there was a likelihood of them absconding if released on bail.
