Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati Warns CS Matiang'i Against Assassination Plot by Cartels

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has warned Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i  about an assassination plot that is likely to be planned by cartels.

Speaking in his constituency, Arati noted that the CS's life might be in danger following his efforts to fight contraband goods in the country as well as his efforts to jail criminals.

"Mr Cabinet Secretary, kindly take care that your food is not poisoned on account of the work you are doing," the legislator exclaimed.

Aradi also urged Matiang'i to tread carefully and monitor areas where he visits as he is in danger of being attacked by the people he least expects.

Additionally, the ODM lawmaker called on the government to increase the security personnel allocated to the CS to always 'guard him against harm.'

On Monday, Matiang'i led other leaders in the burning of over 1,100 illegal gambling machines and 300 shisha bags in Dagoretti South

During the event, the CS directed that all administrative officers, including chiefs, sub-chiefs, county and regional commissioners, who will be involved in any way in the illegal gambling racket would be sacked instantly and replaced.

He also vowed to have all foreigners who have been arrested and accused of distributing the illegal slot machines deported.

"We are ruining our children. Twelve-year-olds are the ones who go to play these games. It is going against the president’s goal of 100 percent transition into secondary schools," Matiang'i mentioned.

Officers from the Ministry of Interior have so far seized gambling dens from 11 sub-counties in Nairobi.
