The Council of Governors (COG) on Thursday made new demands to President Uhuru Kenyatta in his renewed war against corruption in the country.
In a statement read by the Chairman of the Council and Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok, the COG has now indicated that going forward, the war on corruption must be fought within the confines of the law.
"While the Council fully supports the war on corruption launched by his Excellency the President, we appeal to all leaders and government organs to respect the rule of law," Nanok stated.

Flanked by Governor Paul Chepkwony (Kericho) and Ibrahim Ali Roba (Mandera), the COG chairperson further asked the concerned investigative and prosecutorial organs to follow the legal framework set out and conduct their investigations objectively and without bias or witchhunt.
In a bid to fight nepotism, favouritism and tribalism as per the law, each county promised to deal with the issues arising on a case by case basis without disrupting service delivery.
The governors further vowed to support the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in carrying out their mandate.
In the face of the unfolding scandals on counterfeit products, the COG asked the national government to consider a total ban on importation of sugar, rice and fertilizer.
Nanok indicated that this will help to revitalise the local production and would be beneficial in the spirit of "Buy Kenya, Build Kenya".

The COG concluded that given that the Big Four Agenda on manufacturing, universal healthcare, affordable housing, and food security is a devolved function, the Governors are looking forward to coordinating with the National Government to enhance service delivery.
