Uhuru to Discipline Rogue Jubilee Leaders - Party Vice Chairman David Murathe Reveals

Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe revealed that the party's rogue leaders stand to be disciplined by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“You cannot be a leader in Parliament and not support the position of the Party Leader. The President is ready to discipline any member of the party who goes against its manifesto and policies," Murathe stated.

Murathe was addressing the recent standoff in Jubilee and allegations of a crisis meeting which was to be conveyed by the Governing Council — the second ranking organ after the National Delegates Conference.

"We have said that the Parliamentary Group should put its act together by sitting down and thrashing out the issues,” the Jubilee Vice Chair stated.

“We are asking them to reduce the amount of politicking and concentrate on the Big Four. If we are successful on the big four, it will only be good for succession path of the DP," he added.

Reports indicated that President Kenyatta was moving swiftly to exercise his authority and quell indiscipline in the party that has recently been steeped in wrangles.

A National Governing Council meeting which was scheduled for next month to discuss the differences within the party has since been halted.

Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju will, however, convene a meeting of the Parliamentary Group next week at which the President is expected to address the feuding leaders.

The Parliamentary Group meeting comes amid unease over President Kenyatta’s handshake with Opposition leader Raila Odinga, which sent DP William Ruto’s supporters back to the drawing board.

The unity deal and Raila’s newfound status as a partner to the President in the Building Bridges Initiatives is alleged to have rubbed the DP’s supporters who interpreted it as an obstacle to his on his succession path.
