Strip clubs that recently opened in Nyeri are giving the town a bad image according to a Ward Representative.
Nominated MCA Beth Nyawira urged the county government to deny the clubs operating licenses.
According to leaders from the county, Nyeri wives are stressed because their husbands have refused to go home at night following the opening of the strip clubs.
Nyawira, while attending the launch of an internship program by the county government at the Nyeri town hall grounds, stated: "These ladies come from Nairobi and dance naked doing immoral things that I cannot mention here."

She asked the county government to regulate the clubs arguing there was an outcry from women that their husbands have been avoiding sleeping at homes and instead frequent the clubs.
According to the MCA, women alleged their husbands only spend two nights in their matrimonial homes per week as one of the clubs hire the services of the strippers on Monday and Tuesday while the other engages them from Wednesday to Friday.
However, Nyeri Central Deputy county commissioner Kimutai Ngeny was perplexed by what people go to watch at strip clubs.
"What is the difference between your body and the one you are paying to watch there? Or is it the twisting? Are you not able to twist yours when taking a bath?" Ngeny asked.
He further advised married couples to have an arrangement where the two can undress and view each other’s naked bodies when bathing and 'stop that nonsense' of paying money to view strippers in clubs.

The Nyeri Central Deputy county commissioner argued that the bars ought to have their operations streamlined and those that do not adhere to regulations be denied licences.
