The family of Wilson Mwangi Munene who was murdered on Tuesday, June 26 has spoken on his alleged links to the police.
Munene died on the spot when 3 assailants stopped his white Mercedes Benz along Thika Road and proceeded to spray it with at least 40 bullets.
Reports later emerged indicating that Mwangi worked closely with police officers at Kasarani and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters while others claimed he was a private detective.
His eulogy was similarly vague on details, only noting that he was a businessman until 2013 when he "was employed by government".
In an interview with Standard, however, Mwangi's elder brother Maina disclosed that he was known to police officers.

He specifically noted that Mwangi was "well known in Kasarani and to police officers".
Maina was called by police to Thika town to identify the body following the shooting.
"It was very shocking for me. I was very fond of him. I was called to Thika to identify his body and write a statement,"he stated.
Their last conversation, he revealed, had been about their ailing father.
Mwangi's mother Jacinta Wangare disclosed that Mwangi had been the most prosperous of his siblings and put them through school on top of taking care of his parents.
