Motorist Killed on Thika Road Was a Private Detective - Police Reveal

The motorist killed on Tuesday night in a shooting along Thika Road was a private detective, police have revealed.

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) documents, tax compliance certificate and motor vehicle insurance stickers were used by the officers to identify him.

Wilson Mwangi Munene was in his Mercedes Benz vehicle registration number KCE 183Z before it was sprayed with 40 bullets, killing him instantly.

According to sources, he was reportedly stopped by three men in hoodies who were driving a black vehicle.

The trio blocked Munene's path, forcing him to bring his vehicle to a halt.

A loud bang was heard from houses in the surrounding areas at around 10 pm.

Police officers and scene of crime specialists later had the body moved to Thika General Kago Funeral Home.

The vehicle was towed to Thika Police Station.

It has also emerged that Mwangi was well-known to police in Kasarani and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi.

Police in Thika are following other leads hoping to find the assailants.
