Why All Huduma Centre Systems Have Been Shut Down

Thousands of Kenyans failed to access services at Huduma Centres countrywide after systems were shut down over nonpayment to suppliers.

CEO Dennis Mutuku who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke stated that the government initiative was in talks with their suppliers to fix the jumble which they are in.

"Our systems are down at the moment but were are in discussion with our service provider and by the end of the day, we shall give the way forward," Mutuku remarked.

The CEO also mentioned that the centers were still open and Kenyans can access some services such as the application of birth certificates.

Other services being currently offered is the application for Identification Cards which has been defaulted to the manual process, the EACC service where one can report corruption, economic crimes and unethical conduct and clearance for those seeking employment.

Huduma Centres offer the same experience all over the country and sometimes experience delays in regional centres arising from documents verification but we always find solutions to deliver in good time.

In 2017, a tussle over unpaid electricity bills left the Huduma Centre at the General Post Office (GPO) in darkness.

Reports revealed that since Huduma Centre, a Government initiative aimed at enhancing service delivery to the public, was set up at the post office they never paid for any hosting fee.

The Postal Corporation of Kenya's mail sorting office on the ground floor has also been affected by the disconnection of power supply.

However, the rest of the building, which is leased by Lloyd Masika Realtors was, however, running as usual since they had kept up with their electricity payments.
