Students at Maasai Girls Secondary School in Narok County walked out of the institution after leaflets threatening that their dormitories would be torched at night were found.
The students revealed that the leaflets were spread discreetly as they slept on Wednesday night.
Fearing for their lives, a section of the students stormed out of the institution while others demanded an explanation from the school administration.
Narok County Commissioner George Natembeya was forced to call a meeting with the students where they were assured of continued safety.
Natembeya promised that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) would seek to conclusively establish the source of the leaflets.

Advising the students to focus on their studies, she maintained that proper security measures were in place at the institution.
“No one should panic because of mere threats, I request you to concentrate on your studies as I guarantee you total security,” she stated.
The school's principal Ms Rose Oteko, on her part, was perplexed by the incident stating that things had been running smoothly as of Wednesday evening.
She further confirmed that the matter had been reported to police even as she expressed hope that the school's candidates in this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination would post outstanding results.
"I have only seen one leaflet with a message threatening to burn the dormitories and have since reported the incident to the police who are investigating the matter.
“Recently we won a trophy in Mathematics and Chemistry. We have been doing quite well and have high expectations in the National Examination,” she noted.
Barely a month ago, over 700 students at the same institution went on a rampage after a male teacher allegedly molested a student.
