People Daily Reporter Robin Obino Dies in Road Accident

People Daily reporter Robin Obino met his death on Thursday afternoon along Thika Road after he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

The incident took place near the Muthaiga Police Station at around 2 pm as Mr Obino was following up on a story involving a missing Ngara Girls High School student.

"He was on the beat with other colleagues who work for K24 but he was left behind so he took a matatu.

"It appears he alighted past where he was supposed to and was knocked down as he attempted to cross the road," a colleague was quoted by The Star.

The Star newspaper also lost veteran revise editor Mathew Gathigira and former Chief Sub-editor Wanjiru Kinoti in separate incidents.

Wanjiru, 46, passed away on Tuesday after a long illness and had worked with the Standard before her stint at the Star.
