Kenyans were on Friday outraged after sports media personality Carol Radull posted a tweet describing in detail about the death of an Embassava matatu conductor.

The tweet read: "So a cop pulls a tout out of a moving Embassava mat. Tout hits the tarmac head first; is run over by the same mat as the driver doesn't know what's happening.

"Cop flees the scene. Tout dies on the spot. That was in Donholm this morning," she posted.

Buru Buru OCPD Geofrey Mayieke would later deny the incident claiming that the man who was run over was a passenger and not the conductor.

"The said vehicle was from Embakasi heading towards city center and on reaching Outer Ring Road opposite Total petrol station, a passenger wanted to alight from the vehicle and on seeing a police officer who was on patrol standing at the service lane he slipped and fell down and was ran over," he stated.

Court of Appeal

The Court of Appeal on Friday trended on Twitter after the three-judge bench nullified the election of Embakasi South Member of Parliament (MP) Julius Mawathe.

Petitioner Irshad Sumra claimed that the returning officer allegedly "declared the loser as the winner and the winner the loser" despite having garnered 33,708 against Mawathe's 33,880.

Delivering the ruling, Justices Daniel Musinga, Mohamed Warsame and Kathurima M'inoti noted that the returning officer had admitted to mistakes but the court had chosen to ignore them.
