Interior CS Fred Matiang'i Makes County Changes

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has made changes to the county administration.

A press statement released on Friday stated that the reforms were made after consultation with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Dr Fred Matiangi in consultation with his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta has made the following changes in the National Administration which take place with immediate effect,” the statement read in part.

Kirinyaga County Commissioner Mohamed Birik was promoted to North Eastern Regional Commisioner while Samson Ojwang’ takes over as Kirinyaga County Commissioner.

Former North Eastern Region Commissioner Mohamud Saleh is the new Director of Reforms at the ministry headquarters in Harambee House.

The new Elgeyo Marakwet County Commissioner is Dr Ahmed Omar.

Abdullahi Hiddi takes over as the County Commissioner of Machakos County.

“These changes are geared towards enhancing service delivery to Kenyans while at the same time improving management of security and coordination of the National Government functions in regions and counties,” the statement explained.

The changes by the interior ministry were announced moments after acting Statehouse spokesperson Kanze Dena notified the public about new changes in the cabinet.

New ambassadors and high commissioners were also appointed pending approval by parliament.
