Drama as Laikipia Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru is Thrown Out of Kericho Hotel [VIDEO]

There was drama at a Kericho hotel as Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru was barred from spending in their premises over her failure to produce a marriage certificate.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, an infuriated Waruguru is seen seated at the lobby of Sunshine Upperhill Hotel fighting for her stay.

Reports indicate Waruguru had on Saturday gone to Kericho to visit her father-in-law and her extended family when she decided to spend the night at the hotel.

"I checked at the hotel at 4 pm and filled the registration card which I indicated my name and my husband’s name and was given room 402," the Woman Rep narrated.

However, unknown to her, the hotel has strict rules regarding couples spending time in the premises which requires proof of marriage certificate.

When the Laikipia MP, who is a second wife, checked in later at 9 pm, she was in for a rude shock as the hotel could not accommodate the couple given that she did not produce a marriage certificate.

Amid occasional coughs, the legislator indicated that she had even caught a cold due to spending time in the cold Kericho weather and she was left with no choice but to vacate the hotel.

She further elaborated that efforts by leaders from the region to intervene for her stay were futile an action she termed as discriminatory and embarrassing.

"We will not allow any more married women and men to suffer embarrassment in the hand of hospitality industry players," Waruguru lamented promising to follow up the matter in Parliament alleging harassment by the hotel.

"Imagine how many more Kenyans will suffer if an elected leader like me cannot spend money for a room and stay there in a dignified way until they produce a marriage certificate," the legislator posed.
