4 Suspected Thugs Shot Dead by Flying Squad Detectives in Karen

Four suspected robbers were on Tuesday night shot dead by Flying Squad detectives during a robbery attempt in Nairobi's Karen area.

The elite police squad was able to ambush the thugs after receiving a tip-off of the planned robbery.

“The suspects were shot dead at the Hillcrest area as they planned a robbery on a home," a statement from the police read.

Following the tip-off, the officers encountered the group of five men near the Southern Bypass where the suspected thugs disobeyed an order to identify themselves.

That is when a group of men between the ages of 30 and 38 reportedly started shooting at the officers and a fire exchange ensued.

The detectives stated that they managed to kill four of the thugs on the spot with one escaping with gunshot wounds.

They recovered two AK 47 rifles with 35 rounds of ammunition.

The bodies of the deceased were later taken to City mortuary.

Earlier in May, South Sudan's Minister for Water and Irrigation Mabior Garang home in Kilimani was raided by thugs who made away with around Ksh 2.8 Million (in dollars).

Four men, armed with a pistol, are said to have entered the house and tied the Minister's brother and brother before locking them in one of the rooms.

Garang's relative reported the incident at Kilimani Police Station, further divulging that seven golden necklaces, three sets of golden bungles, 12 golden rings, three bracelets, four gold watches and ten mobile phones were also missing.
