Nairobi Hawker Sends Commuters Into Uncontrolled Laughter

A man in a video making rounds on Social media is emerging as probably Nairobi’s funniest hawker.

Commuters filmed the merchandise dealer as he cracked their ribs with his hilarious style of trading.

The hawker whose name we could not immediately identify claimed to have extraordinary stationery and that the commuters could only find them from him.

“Just like we have World Father's’ Day, Mothers’Day, tomorrow is Learners’ Day. I have been sent by the Education Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed, I was with her in North Italy,” claimed the seller.

While the passengers sank into uncontrolled laughter, the hawker wore a much serious face, urging the matatu occupants not to laugh.

Hii ni penseli, insha ya dakika 40, inaandika na dakika nane, (This is a pencil, it writes a forty minutes essay in a record eight minutes).

Iko na rubber yenye mtoto hawezi kula, iko na pilipilili. Iko na tracker haiwezi ibiwa, kwa shule mzima inajulikana ni mtoto wako, ata ikienda na headmaster,” argued the hawker.

(It comes with an eraser,  a child cannot eat the eraser because it’s peppered. It has a tracker and it can't be stolen even by the headteacher. In the whole school, it’s only your child who can have it)

He amusingly claimed that were it not for his merchandise, he’d not be as wealthy as he is today.

Kama sio hii mimi singekua hapa. Nimejenga nyumba Muthaiga, Kilelshwa niko na nyumba nane za kurent 150,000 (per day) watchmen wangu wako na V8, my housegirl ako na Range Rover sport,”

(Were it not for these, I wouldn't be where I am today. I have a house in Muthaiga. My residential homes in Kileleshwa go for Ksh.150,000, not per month, but a day. My security guards drive V8, my house girl has a Range Rover Sport) he joked.
