Governor Joho Devises New Strategy to Deal with DP Ruto

Governor Hassan Joho has revealed his new strategy to deal with Deputy President William Ruto perceived onslaught on his Coast region backyard.

The Mombasa County boss has indicated that although he cannot force some leaders in the region from decamping, he will now work with DP Ruto's rivals.

According to Joho, the shifting of allegiance by some of his supporters is likely to be neutralized as other leaders join his team.

"The thing is when one person leaves a team, many more are willing to join," Joho stated in what appeared to be a retaliation on Ruto's declaration on Sunday when he vowed to continue with his increased tours in the region.

"If someone takes over your ally, go and start working with his enemy. It is a fair game," the ODM Deputy Party Leader stated.

Media reports indicate that the Sunday visit by the DP was his ninth one since the handshake and has seen him win support from several Joho supporters including Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango) and Paul Katana (Kaloleni).

Joho has in the past expressed his intention to vie for the Presidency come 2022 promising a tough fight off with other aspirants to clinch the seat.

The coast region has in the past rallied its support behind Joho as a suitable candidate from their midst but the onslaught by the DP appears to be disrupting the equation.

The Governor has, however, castigated the move "Mtu anaona opportunity ya TV na gazeti na kuanza kuchezea wakenya (Some of them are using the TV and newspapers to fool Kenyans)."

"Mtu ambaye anajiona yeye ni mdosi sana na he believes akisema kitu, Wakenya watafuata tu, ama akisema, ni ukweli. Siku hizi wakenya wako informed; watu wanaelewa (Some people think the are rich enough for Kenyans to follow them blindly. Kenyans are now informed and understand issues),"

"Unfortunately some of them (politicians) are looking for soft targets. They can pick Joho hoping to survive politically. You will not survive. If you are doomed, you will remain fate will remain sealed," the Governor concluded.
