A Nairobi politician has been charged in court for slapping and robbing Embakassi East MP Paul Ongili aka Babu Owino.
Joseph Otieno Obiende, with others not before the court, is claimed to have beaten Babu before robbing him in December 2017.
Owino had earlier defeated Otieno, who was his rival, in the August 8 elections.

According to the official police statement, the accused slapped Babu in the face and pushed him to the ground.
It is also reported that he stormed the legislator’s event, took over a delivery lorry and assaulted the turn boy and driver.
Together with his accomplices, he made away with 200 bales of wheat flour valued at Ksh 420,000.
The incident took place at Nairobi's Tassia estate, where Babu had gone to meet his supporters and offer Christmas gifts.
However, Otieno denied the robbery with violence charges and was released on a sh 500,000 bond.
The judge ruled that the case will be heard on October 17.
During the hearing of an election petition seeking to nullify Babu's win last year, Otieno told the court that he was admitted to hospital after being beaten by Babu's supporters.
He indicated that this prevented him from voting.
