Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has revealed how Embakasi East lawmaker Babu Owino saved her on Thursday from a group of armed youth.
Passaris had called a meeting in Tassia courtesy of the National Government Affirmative action fund to educate the women and youth on financial issues and how they can access the youth fund.
A group of youth stormed the meeting injuring four people.

The Women Rep noted that the police worsened the situation when they lobbied teargas at the meeting.
Passaris revealed that she met the Embakasi East legislator at the gate of Tassia grounds as she was fleeing from the youth who were armed with knives.
“Babu met us escaping from the meeting but he insisted on us returning citing that the youth are our children. He managed to calm them down and we went back and continued with the forum,” she mentioned.
Addressing the meeting, Babu warned the youth against being used by politicians to deter and disrupt development meetings.
The legislator also urged the youth to engage in productive and development-oriented activities instead of being paid peanuts by politicians to cause violence.
“We all know that violence does not help anyone and it is sad that we still have some people who believe that giving 100 shillings to cause fights in meetings will solve the unemployment problem in this country,” Babu stated.
He indicated that there was a dispute among youth who disagreed on the allocation of stalls to the locals.
