Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi Gachagua, are hosting a farewell dinner before they return to Kenya.
According to an announcement shared on Thursday August 14, the event will celebrate the Deputy President’s accomplishments during his time in the US.
Details seen by Kenyans.co.ke reveal that the dinner will take place on August 17, 2025 at 4:30pm (11:30pm Nairobi time) at the Holiday Inn, 4 Highwood Drive, Tewksbury, Massachusetts.
The dinner will cost $100 (Ksh13,000) per person and all attendees will be required to dress in formal wear.
A poster for the dinner states that all those attending have until Friday, August 15, to confirm their attendance.
"Guests must confirm their attendance by August 15, 2025, by contacting the numbers provided for payment: Bishop Waiyaki, Francis Ngigi, or Bishop Wachira," the poster reads.
Gachagua Cuts Trip Short
This announcement follows Gachagua's revelation that he will be cutting his month-long tour of the U.S. short.
Although he did not specify the exact date of his return to Kenya, he said that he would take a few days to rest before coming back.
He said that he is ending his trip early in order to prepare for the upcoming by-elections. He apologised for any inconvenience caused, adding that he would reschedule the remaining parts of his tour for early 2026.
He left the country for the U.S. on July 9.
“I had a very successful and fulfilling visit to the United States of America with serious engagements with Kenyans in the Diaspora. I regret being unable to visit the scheduled remaining States since I need to get back home to join our party, DCP, in preparation for the upcoming By-Elections in various parts of our country,” he said.
"I am sorry to cut my trip short; my profound apologies to the organisers and Kenyans whom I was to meet; the same has been rescheduled for early next year," he added.
