PresidentKE and PSCU Twitter Accounts Deleted

State House has deactivated several social media accounts that have been operating under the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU).

Among the accounts that have been deleted is the Twitter handle @PSCU_Digital and @PresidentKE which were part of the State House communication channels.

In a message sent out on Friday evening, State House Chief of Staff noted that the decision was part of "ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility and flow of information from the Office of the President."

"State House has undertaken a review of the various digital media accounts that have in the past been used to convey official information on the activities of President, Uhuru Kenyatta.

"Please note that all official communication originating from the President’s Strategic Communications Unit shall be strictly communicated through @StateHouseKenya, @UKenyatta @FirstLadyKenya and @KanzeDena on Twitter and State House Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, and Office of the First Lady Kenya on Facebook.

"In this regard and with immediate effect, only the aforementioned official digital media channels will convey information for and on behalf of the President, Her Excellency the First Lady and State House," the message reads.

Following the move, the Chief of Staff noted that operational correspondence by PSCU staff to media outlets will be done through officially assigned "president.go.ke" email addresses.

"It is further advised that State House shall not accept any liability or responsibility for any inaccuracies arising from the reliance by a media outlet on communication delivered through any other unofficial means," the statement concludes.

The latest announcement is another milestone in the series of changes witnessed following the appointment of Kanze Dena as State House Spokesperson.

Kanze, a renowned journalist and former news anchor at Citizen TV, succeeded Manoah Esipisu who was nominated as Kenya's High Commissioner to the UK.

During her inaugural address as the spokesperson, Kanze wowed Kenyans with her impeccable command of Swahili - something she had perfected during her times on TV.

Another notable change since Kanze's takeover is the increased use of Swahili in official State House communications including official emails and statements.
