Aden Duale Shows Off His Camel Farm in Garissa County

Rare photos of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale attending his camel farming side hustle have surfaced.

The Garissa Township MP divulged that he rears over 100 she-camel breeds at the outskirts of the town which in is line with his pastoralist community tradition.

The Majority Leader is also the patron of the Pastoralist Parliamentary Caucus and he never shies away from acknowledging his humble background.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Duale indicated that although the farm is still in the startup phase, he envisions making it the best camel model farm in the region.

According to the legislator, a mature camel in the farm can fetch up to Kshs. 200,000 which makes it a more lucrative enterprise given that camels are also highly adapted to survive even in the semi-arid conditions.

"I am planning to convert the venture into a fully fledged dairy farm producing camel milk, meat, yoghurt and ghee," the legislator indicated.

For instance, during a parliamentary session on Thursday, Duale told the August House that it is wrong for the government to spare the rich in Mau Forest evictions while dealing ruthlessly with the peasants.

"My father was not rich but he owned at least 300 camels. Just like other parts farm coffee and other products, camels are our treasure," Duale indicated.

He nevertheless indicated that his humble beginnings have never been a hindrance to the capacity and potential of who he is today.

Perhaps to sum how camels are held in high regard in his community, Duale quoted "A man without a camel is not praised in the afterlife and the death of a man without camels is not news".
