Aden Duale Reveals the Only 5 People Who Intimidate Him

Majority Leader Aden Duale on Thursday cracked up the Parliament by revealing that there are only 5 people in the country who intimidate him.

Contributing to a debate on the report concerning Mau Forest evictions, Duale stated that he does not fear to tackle issues head-on regardless of who stands in his way.

"I don't know whether Moses Kuria is around. The only people who can intimidate is my wife, my kids, President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, and Raila Odinga," Duale quipped.

The Garissa Township legislator made the remarks as he disputed the inclusion of Pan-Paper Mills director Jaswant Rai in the Kenya Forest Service board.

"You cannot be in the logging business and also double as a board member in the regulatory authority. There will definetly be a conflict of interest," Duale raised concern.

The Majority Leader further indicated that although he fully supports the flushing out of illegal settlers from the Mau Complex, the exercise was seemingly biased to exclude large scale encroachers.

"Mr Speaker, the government is just going for the chicken seller who owns two goats. We have tea factories in the forest. Can we see them being evicted too!" Duale concluded.

Duale alluded that the sons of former powerful politicians were the owners of massive tracts of land within the forest reserve hence the alleged preferential treatment.

The legislators further commended the recent directive by President Uhuru ordering the National Land Commission to revoke Kibarani Dumpsite land allocation to private developers.

Uhuru's order came after the parliament and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho raised concerns that the sea reclamation which he indicated may see Mombasa lose its status as an island.
