Kiambu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary Orders Return of Male Bodies After Mix-Up

Confusion rocked Kiambu Level Five Hospital Mortuary after it was ordered that all male bodies taken from the mortuary be returned.

All male bodies that had been released on Tuesday morning were to be returned after a family failed to find the body of a kin.

The family of Stephen Mburu had gone to collect the body for burial having left it for preservation at the mortuary for six days.

They were, however, shocked to find out that the body had already been released.

The family demanded to see the body as mourners were already gathered at Karia village in Githunguri.

“When we arrived at the mortuary this morning, we were given a body belonging to someone else and we rejected it. We demanded we be given Mburu's body but it seemed that it had already been released to another family," stated Mburu's wife only identified as Ms Njeri.

Frustrated family members put the mortuary attendants on the spot, eventually forcing them to order for the return of six male bodies that had been released.

Three bodies had been returned by 2 pm, including one to be buried in Kwa-Maiko in Githunguri and another that had already gotten to Kanunga.

Mburu's body was, however, not among those that were returned.

"We checked all the bodies which were at the facility at the time, but none of them belonged to my late husband,” Njeri lamented.
