Anyang' Nyong'o Hosts NRM Vice-Chair in Kisumu

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o hosted Uganda's National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice-Chair Mike Mukula in the county.

The Governor welcomed Mukulaa to Kisumu late on Friday night.

"Welcoming my brother Uganda NRM Vice President Captain Mukulaa to the great county of Kisumu. Karibu Kisumu!" he tweeted.

It indicates a shift away from his 2016 onslaught on Ugandan President and NRM leader Yoweri Museveni that nearly threatened to cause a diplomatic spat.

After Museveni trounced opposition leader Kizza Besigye in an election marred by vote-rigging claims, Nyong'o hit out at Museveni declaring that "Ugandans have resolved to resist the illegal and illegitimate stay in office by Museveni and the National Resistance Movement regime."

Nyong'o further gave a statement in Parliament demanding that Kenya reject the results of the election.

"The elections are only democratic in so far as President Yoweri Museveni is concerned. President Museveni himself is on record as saying that nobody should teach him about democracy.

"This is the kind of arrogance of the big man in Africa that should have been left behind," he stated.

NRM Secretary General Justine Lumumba responded Nyong'o to focus on Kenyan politics given that at the time, he was the Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“I even noticed that the person who moved the motion was a Secretary General of a party that has never won elections; if he is an expert in conducting elections, let him first win elections in Kenya then we can take his advice,” she stated.

Mukulaa served as Museveni's personal pilot in the late 1980's.

He later ran for a Parliamentary seat and served as a State Minister of Health.
