Several people from the same family are feared dead after a vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a river in Gatanga, Murang'a County.
According to reports, the accident occurred at Wacengu Bridge on the River Kiama on Sunday, October 26.
The white minivan was reportedly ferrying the individuals from Kahunyo village to a family event.
Photos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke show the vehicle's front section completely submerged in the river.
Following the accident, security agencies and other emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist with the rescue efforts.
Security agencies have, however, not revealed the number of casualties or the exact number of individuals who were in the vehicle when the accident occurred.
This accident adds to the increasing number of road accidents on major highways across the country.
Just hours before, a lorry rammed into a hardware shop in Kiambu County on Saturday, October 25, along the Mutarakwa-Maai Mahiu road at the Limuru Junction.
Photos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke show the lorry suspended on the roof of a building, its rear wheels hanging mid-air, with the front part completely embedded inside the building.
Authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were in the vehicle or the building, or how many people died.
The same day, another head-on collision between a bus and a private vehicle happened at around 4am at Soysambu near Gilgil along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
According to reports, six individuals travelling in a private vehicle died on the spot.
