The family of a missing Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kapenguria Campus senior accountant is pleading with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take the matter seriously, including questioning her husband, who they believe to be the main suspect in the disappearance.
Speaking on Sunday, the father of the 38-year-old, Caroline Mokeira, told journalists that the police were moving at a snail's pace to unravel the mystery surrounding her disappearance.
As such, her father called on the DCI to provide them with any information so that she could get closure, whether his daughter was dead or alive.
"I am begging you, it is very hard for me to sleep. I wake up at night to check my phone to see whether there is any news on my daughter, and I find it blank," the father said.
"I would be very happy to know her whereabouts. Even if she is dead or alive, I will be grateful."
She has been missing since Friday, October 17, with the family suspecting that her husband is somehow involved, even though the police have yet to question him.
"The police should arrest the husband, as he is the first suspect. The county commander should also take over this matter because we do not have trust in the Kimilili Police Station," another relative added.
He also claimed that her phone had been traced to Uganda, even though nothing had been done about it.
Reportedly, Mukeria was last seen leaving her home in Kibomet with her husband.
Before the sighting, she had been attacked alongside her husband three days earlier by unknown assailants, leading the family to believe there was foul play in her disappearance.
There have also been differing accounts on how she disappeared, deepening the mystery. For instance, even though both she and her husband had cars, they are both parked in their compound, and the househelp insists that the man of the house is the one who parked the cars there.
The family also believes that the mother of three could never leave her children behind.
