The intervention of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has given a ray of hope to the family Eric Makau Musyoka who allegedly was murdered for his insurance cover.

Kasyoki is set to face murder charges in Kangundo.

In a feature done by Citizen TV's investigative journalist Purity Mwambia, Kasyoki allegedly murdered his nephew in a bid to benefit from a Ksh9 million life insurance policy.

He had listed himself as a beneficiary of Eric’s life insurance policy and almost one year later, the nephew ended up dead and his body dumped near his home.

After the burial, Musyoki tried to reclaim the money from the two insurance companies without the knowledge or consent of Eric’s parents or sibling.

The expose created an uproar online with netizens accusing the police of being reluctant in their job after taking almost 4 years to nab the suspect although they had an arrest warrant.

"The DPP attention has been drawn to a News feature appearing on @citizentvkenya prime time news in regard to the Kangundo incident. Due to the nature of the case, the DPP has directed that immediate legal steps be taken to ensure justice is done. @DCI_Kenya,” a tweet from the ODPP read.

Kasyoki had been working as a manager at ICEA Lion Group company until his contract was terminated on Monday, August 13.

"ICEA Lion Life Assurance has terminated its agency contract with Evans Masaku Kasyoki as per the terms of his contract," the company tweeted.
