Kenyan musicians Wahu Kagwi and Roy Smith Mwita aka Rufftone have landed roles in the Ministry of Education to be advocates to champion Technical and Vocational Training agenda among the youth.

During a press conference at the HELB offices in Nairobi, the duo expressed their support for the program terming it a great initiative for youth who have recently cleared their secondary education to hone their skills.

Rufftone, who is a graphic designer by training, urged youth to take advantage of the training institutions adding that it was a sure way to help students earn a living with a variety of marketable skills on offer.

“I came to Nairobi and settled in Umoja estate and there was a jobless corner, it literally was a jobless corner because my friends used to meet and hang out here because they had no jobs or any training, this is a good opportunity to train youths and they will be better placed to get jobs or create on,” explained the Gospel musician best known for the Tsinyanga Tsiwere song.

On her part, Wahu who holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Nairobi thanked Education CS Amina Mohamed for the opportunity to reach out to the youth.

"Madam CS and the Ministry of Education, I say well in! Encouraging the uptake of TVET is an extremely impactful way of dealing with the employment and skills gap we are currently facing as a country," she conveyed.

The My Everything hitmaker further called on the youth to think broadly in terms of career opportunities.

"To the youth, I say this: We need to demystify the notion that success only comes in the form of white-collar employment. Life has personally taught me otherwise. There is enough space in the sky for all our stars to shine. You just need to figure out how they were designed to shine.

"So as you consider your career options, Think Broad and wide. You were not designed to fail, remember that.  You must Own your success story and control your Destiny!
Love you all, wish you the very best of success in what you do and God bless," she advised.
