Crucial Role Mama Oliech Played in Raila Odinga's Life

Opposition leader Raila Odinga revealed a crucial role Mama Oliech played in his life.

Speaking in Kisumu where he eulogized the late Mary Auma Oliech, the Opposition leader revealed that Mama Oliech was one of his advisers.

"Mary was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was one of my advisers," Raila stated.

The former Prime Minister further described Mama Oliech as an embodiment of reason and a highly spirited, industrious and brilliant woman who was passionate about young talent.

He had visited the Oliech family accompanied by Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o, Speaker Onyango Oloo and Seme MP James Nyikal.

Mary Auma who was the mother of former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech, died on July 20 at her home in Lavington, Nairobi, after developing difficulty breathing.

Raila also addressed corruption and steps that can be taken for Kenya to be free of the vice.

He called for the war on corruption to be extended to county governments arguing that it must be fought at the national and county levels so public funds are prudently used.

The ODM boss reiterated that his handshake with Jubilee Party President Uhuru Kenyatta was anchored on uniting the public and solving injustices including corruption and those brought about by conflict.

"We must get rid of corruption in counties to spur development. Those involved in graft must be arrested and charged. Those who have massive wealth must explain how they acquired it," the Opposition leader stated.

Raila also called on counties to join on the ongoing demolition of illegal structures in efforts to reclaim riparian land.
