Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Wednesday night reignited the debate on the recent poll ranking her second-most-corrupt person in the country.
The governor during an interview on Citizen TV chided the pollsters saying their findings were not factual given they had ranked her top among leaders who've served the country the longest time possible.
Waiguru admonished the poll ranking her second after Deputy President William Ruto among leaders perceived most corrupt in Kenya.
She stated that it is impractical for her to be more corrupt than retired president Daniel Moi who served as Head of State for 24 years given the ills associated with his regime.
"This poll ranked me above former president Moi who ruled this country for 24 years, everybody knows what we think about the Moi era. Are you saying that I stole more than Moi so that you can make me more corrupt?" posed Governor Waiguru during the interview.
Waiguru who corruption at the National Youth Service put on the spot during her tenure as devolution cabinet secretary intimated that an audit on her lifestyle was ready and can be made public to debunk negative public perception.
She stated that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission conducted the audit and that she was willing to have it released to the public.
Waiguru reiterated that the poll had been politically motivated aiming at dragging into the matter. She appealed to the Director of Public Prosecution to pursue an individual who she claims is behind the poll.
"Why is it that there is somebody who is so determined to keep throwing my name there and trying to rank me? There must be a reason.
"I will not answer whether it is a politician or not. We have a new DPP in town and we expect that he will do the right thing," held Governor Waiguru.
