Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have once enjoyed the services of three top lawyers that successfully petitioned the Supreme Court to annul the 2017 presidential elections.
The simmering economic tribulations have sent Kenyans back to the archives emerging with a video of Siaya Senator James Orengo warning his colleagues at the Senate not to give President Uhuru an easy stay in power.
Orengo in the video is seen recounting how he represented the president and his deputy in a high profile case against retired President Kibaki in 2006.
"I have appeared for President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto when KANU was going away, President Kibaki was picking their members and making them ministers. I went to court on their behalf but now that they are in power, they are forgetting," stated Orengo during the Senate special seating.
Lawyers Pheroze Nowrojee, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and Kethi Kilonzo also played critical roles as part of Senator Orengo's team battling it out with President Kibaki's leadership.
In the video captured early last year during the debate on Election Laws (Amendment) Act 2016 Orengo also warned pro-government senators that should they amend the law, the regime would turn against them once they capture a second term in power.
He told the Senators that he was certain most of the Jubilee leaders would run to him seeking his services in a year's time after helping Kenyatta and Ruto remain in power.
"I urge you that this bill is only for rejection...sometimes revolutions eat their own children. Government eats their own people. This government is going to punish you more than they are going to punish me," stated Orengo.
The senior counsel made his submission on the floor of the house cautioning the senators that;
"In another one year, you will be crying in my office asking me to come and represent you."
