Sonko to Hold 2-Day Medical Camp to Honour Late Father Gideon Mbuvi Kioko Kivanguli

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is planning to honour his late father Gideon Mbuvi Kioko Kivanguli by holding a 2-day free medical camp.

Sonko's father who previously worked at the Lands and Finance Ministries passed away in 2015 and Thursday is the third anniversary of his death.

He succumbed at the Nairobi Hospital after a short illness.

In celebrating the life of his father, the county head will host the camp at Kathiani primary school, which is opposite Sonko's family farm at Mua hills in Machakos county.

Locals will get free medical advice where minor optical and dental procedures will be performed on the ground, with more serious cases referred to the most suitable health facilities.

The Star reported that event will take place on Thursday and Friday with Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka set to open the camp as the chief guest.

On Wednesday, he posted a video on his Facebook at a Coca-cola bottling factory where he was ordering for soft drinks ahead of the anniversary festivities.

Marking the 2nd anniversary in 2017, Sonko attributed his success to his father describing him as an inspiration

"We deeply cherish your memories of love, dedication, kindness, wisdom and generosity which will remain our guiding light. You still are in our hearts, your memories linger, sweetly, tenderly, fondly and truly. We miss you dearly.

"Your amazing life was a blessing to us; the memory of your deeds a treasure, your passing left a void beyond words and your absence a pain beyond measure. Although physically gone, you have always been a thought away from us. God be with you till we meet again. May the Almighty rest your soul in eternal peace," Sonko wrote.
