The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is one of the renown intelligence units in the country and has received a lot of attention in the recent past especially due to the spirited war against corruption.
As such, we could not help getting curious on who the department famed for crime-busting follows on social media pages, in particular Twitter.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Machakos' Alfred Mutua are the only two County Chiefs in the DCI Twitter 159-follows list that also features the Council of Governors' account, 12 politicians, several media personalities, media houses and security agencies.
The DCI also follows President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto, the First Lady Kenya and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Among other politicians that the DCI follows is Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr, Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi), Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet ) and Hassan Omar (Mombasa).
The crime buster agent has also subscribed to tweets to MPs Aden Duale (Garissa) and Mohammed Ali (Nyali).
Businessman Chris Kirubi, lawyers Apollo Mboya, Paul Muite, Donald Kipkorir and Red Cross Secretary General Abbas Gullet are also on the list that the DCI follows.
The list of journalists and media houses, however, is considerably longer with several renown faces including Jeff Koinange, Larry Madowo, Anne Kigutu, Mark Maasai, Julie Gichuru, John Allan Namu among others.
Also included are Kenyan Government agencies such as the ODPP Kenya, State House Kenya, Central Bank of Kenya, IG of Police Joseph Boinnet, and St John's Ambulance.
The accounts followed by the DCI are generally a source of news and likely source of critical information to DCI operations.
Most government agencies including the DCI, State House and DPP have increasingly embraced the use of social media both in gathering and disseminating information and delivering their mandate.
