Jubilee Party Evicted From Nairobi Office by PNU Officials

A team of Jubilee Party officers was evicted from one of their Nairobi branch office by Party of National Unity officials following a court order.

Furniture was removed from the one-storey building located along Musa Gitau road by a group of youth wearing PNU caps as another group removed the ruling party’s colours from the walls.

John Okemwa Anunda, who is the PNU Secretary General, asserted that they reclaimed the office which was handed to Jubilee late 2016.

The officials who were backed up by police officers stated that the previous residents were not welcome there anymore.

According to Anunda, the officials were directed to talk to Jubilee Secretary General Raphel Tuju about the matter surrounding the building.

Tunataka kuambia Tuju akae kwake, hapa si kwake (We want to tell Tuju to stay away, this is not his property)," stated the PNU Secretary General.

PNU Chairman Paul Lukaria reiterated that they were helping President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fight against impunity by reclaiming the offices.

The Muthangari Deputy OCS Peterson Kunda explained that they accompanied the PNU team to enforce the court orders and maintain calm.

The building formerly belonged to PNU before being repainted with Jubilee colours in November 2016.

PNU handed over the building after former President Mwai Kibaki declared support for Kenyatta during the 2017 General Election.

This comes a year after former Meru Governor Peter Munya and other PNU officials accused Jubilee of illegally ejecting them from the offices.

PNU’s Nairobi branch Chairman Fredrick Kimathi at that time warned that they would put up a fight to keep the offices.

Kimathi further claimed they had the title deed for the land which had been in their possession since 2012 when the late George Saitoti made the purchase while serving as PNU’s party Chairman.

The claims by Kimathi were disregarded by former Starehe MP Maina Kamanda who claimed that the title belonged to the Mt Kenya Foundation (MKF) which evicted PNU after they were unable to pay the loan.

Kamanda explained that Jubilee had receipts for the Ksh300,000 monthly rent that is paid to MKF
