Cause of Death for Maribel Kapolon Disclosed

Postmortem results on Friday revealed the cause of death in the murder of a Meru Senior Resident Magistrate’s daughter after being kidnapped.

According to the Daily Nation, the results showed that Maribel Kapolon suffered multiple head fractures and face injuries.

Sources within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Meru on Wednesday stated that they had two suspects in custody over the murder of Maribel Kapolon.

It is believed that the murder of the schoolgirl was due to a relationship break up between her mother Carol Kimei and an ex-boyfriend.

The main suspect was a former prison officer who worked in Meru but quit working under unknown conditions.

The officer was arrested and interrogated at the Meru Police Station with his fingerprints taken as part of the ongoing investigations.

The second suspect, who is claimed to have made the call to demand for ransom, was arrested in Kayole.

Reports stated that Maribel was kidnapped by someone she knew well near Total Petrol Station along the Meru town-Makutano road.

Children who were with the deceased before her abduction explained that she described the man as her uncle.

Maribel’s lifeless body was spotted by locals visiting a giant Meru Oak which is a popular tourist attraction in Imenti forest that is about three kilometres from Meru town.

The body had cuts on the thighs and one arm appeared to have been burnt with acid.

Police reports indicated Maribel had been missing since September 6 at around 5 pm when she left school.

Viewing of her body at the Meru Level Five Hospital Mortuary sparked emotions from the family members who called for the prosecution of those responsible for her death.
