Casualties Reported in Multi-car Crash at Sachangwan

Several people were reportedly injured following a road crash involving multiple vehicles at Sachangwan area along the Eldoret- Nakuru highway.

Confirming the incident, the Kenya Red Cross stated that it had dispatched response teams to the accident scene.

Three casualties with critical injuries were evacuated to Nakuru County Referral Hospital for emergency treatment.

The Tuesday incident is the latest in a string of accidents that have involved multiple vehicles.

Earlier in August, six cars were involved in an accident along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi.

A number of accidents have been reported on the Eldoret- Nakuru highway especially along the notorious Sachangwan stretch.

In December, a grisly accident occurred involving 13 vehicles at the dreaded Sachangwan area on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

In a report released in June, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed the number of pedestrians who lost their lives due to road accidents and the most notorious roads in Nairobi.

The report indicates that 515 people have died as of June 2018 compared to 497 who died in the same period in 2017.

According to the statistics, in Nairobi, Outering Road tops the list of killer highways being the scene of 23 deaths since January.
