Obado Receives VIP Treatment Behind the Bars

Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado is reportedly receiving VIP treatment behind bars contrary to earlier reports that he was facing the tough jail life.

According to People Daily, Obado has the privilege to take food of his choice at the Industrial Area GK Prison.

Besides, the embattled Migori County boss is said to have the privilege to entertain visitors other than his family and lawyers while in custody.

By Wednesday evening, the county chief is said to have already been visited by three governors, as well as several senior government and county officials between 8 am to 12:45 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm.

The report further indicates that the governor is said to have been allocated a special room with a bed, mattress, three blankets and bed sheets.

Unlike the ordinary prisoners, Obado has access to newspapers, uses his own toilet and he is at liberty to walk to a block where there is a television set and a remote control to flip the channels of his choice.

The suspect in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Belyne Otieno is also said to be enjoying catering services through the voucher system.

The arrangement sees him present vouchers of Ksh1,000 to receive special food of his choice.

The cell B4 where Obado was reportedly held is not as crowded as the rest of the prison facility and Nairobi Town Clerk John Gakuo and Ex-PS Sammy Kirui have allegedly used the facility before.

Since money is not allowed inside the prison, vouchers of between Ksh1,000 and Ksh5,000 are allegedly issued at the duty office.

These are presented at the canteen where the holders can buy milk and bread for breakfast and the voucher can be used at any time of the day unlike the scheduled meals of the prison.

Obado reportedly also has the freedom to chose the clothes he wears in prison and he directly talks to his visitors without the usual glass barrier.
