What Jacque Maribe Told Police About Joe Jowie

On Thursday, media personality Jacque Maribe was interrogated by the police over the murder of Monica Kimani in Kilimani.

Maribe told detectives that she was not familiar with Monica and she only knew about her when she broke the news of her gruesome murder.

She also revealed that she had once seen her boyfriend Joe Irungu with a gun in her house and warned him against keeping it there.

As police inspected her house, they found a live bullet which has since been taken for ballistics test.

Sleuths are still in search of the pistol which the journalist saw; they believe Irungu was in illegal possession of the gun.

According to Standard, the media personality revealed that she met Irungu earlier this year in a Nairobi club and he later proposed.

She intimated that on Friday, September 21, her lover arrived home shot and injured and she was forced to drive around several hospitals in search of medical assistance.

After the alleged shooting, Maribe and Irungu told the police they went to Nairobi West, Lang’ata and Kijabe Mission Hospitals.

They, however, gave contradictory statements on the shooting - they initially stated the attack happened indoors only to later mention it took place outside.

Irungu reported that he was shot after he dropped Maribe in her house at around 1:30 am.

On inquiry, the police found no evidence of the shooting while the Citizen TV journalist noted she heard no gunshots.

Maribe disclosed she was shocked after her fiancé was arrested and she sought refuge in her parent’s home.
