Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Monday morning slammed Deputy President William Ruto for voiding the handshake deal between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking to the media at Wilson Airport, the governor vowed to tackle the Deputy President for having referred to the ODM party leader as a conman.
The ODM deputy leader stated that it was unbecoming for the DP to make such remarks which he deemed as demeaning.
"Our concern is that two great leaders in the country came together for the purposes of unity, for the first time we are enjoying peace and tranquility, but there is one individual moving around trying to destroy the goodwill," observed Governor Joho.
He went on; "How dare you call Raila Odinga a conman? Uko na nini ya kukoniwa wewe? (What do you have that a conman can take from you). Show us what you have, if it is the political power you cannot be compared to Raila. We will show him dust at the right time."
Governor Joho further indicated that they were aware DP Ruto was moving around the country trying to create a team of leaders that shall oppose the anticipated constitutional amendments.
Joho was accompanied by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed on their way to Migori County to campaign for the ODM party candidate ahead of the forthcoming Senatorial seat by-election.
Junet told off the Deputy President over the 'conman remarks' saying he could not equal the former Prime Minister's stature.
"It will take William Ruto another 50 years to achieve what Raila has achieved politically in this country. If he continues with the name-calling, we know what he is and we are going to tell Kenyans what he is," stated the MP, who doubles up as the ODM political affairs Director.
Earlier, ODM had issued a statement denying having expelled Ruto as claimed during a tour in Mombasa on Sunday.
"There is no single day or time that the ODM Party summoned Hon. William Ruto to appear before any of its committees including the Disciplinary Committee as he claims. He was a N.E.C Member but abdicated his role in the in the party voluntarily to advance his interests elsewhere," explained ODM in a statement.
