The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday left members of the public confused after posting a message on its official Twitter handle.

The DCI promised "goodies" to customers who would make their way to its offices to make applications.

Kenyans on Twitter quickly sought to find whether it was a trap and what manner of applications needed to be made.

A more puzzling question raised by commentators was who exactly the DCI customers are.

The DCI's post read: "Guys! We’re celebrating #CustomerServiceWeek by appreciating all our amazing customers!

"We invite you, our valued customers to make your application this week & receive a small token of our gratitude. We’ve got lots of goodies to giveaway! You’re welcome," the post read.

Photos posted by the team showed officials at the Kiambu Road headquarters dishing out sweets and roses to members of the public who were queued waiting to be served.
