Jacque Maribe's Father Opens Up on Daughter's Relationship With Jowie

The father of Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe's father opened up about his daughter's relationship with Joseph Irungu, the prime suspect in the murder of Monica Kimani in Kilimani.

Mwangi Maribe proclaimed his daughter's innocence, arguing she was a victim of love and the police were seeking to "become famous" by prosecuting her due to her celebrity status.

Mwangi stated: “Police want to become famous by nailing a celebrity. That is why my daughter is in custody. Her neighbour, Brian Kassaine, also has a partner. Why is she not in custody? Her biggest mistake was falling in love.”

He urged that his daughter's life would be in danger if she testified against those arrested in connection with the murder.

The father to the TV news anchor claimed his daughter could not have been involved in the gruesome killing and then break the news the following day on Citizen TV.

According to him, the family feared for Maribe's life if she decided to testify against Jowie, adding that they may advise against it.

Mr Maribe stated, “He may not have committed the crime alone. The man has deep connections with shadowy people. His accomplices may be out there and may go after my daughter if she testifies against him."

He further added, "She could live in fear for the rest of her life,” he said. Mr Irungu is a suspect and so far has not been charged with any offence.

Mr Maribe claimed that Jowie and Jacque were not in good terms adding that on September 20, a day after Monica's murder, Ms Maribe had a major fallout with the suspect.

“She asked Irungu to return her car keys and ATM card. Even when they went back to the house, Jacque threw some of his clothes out. The man threatened to kill himself after Jacque said she would leave him. He borrowed a gun and shot himself,” Mr Maribe claimed.

Mr Maribe stated that he knew Jowie since he had visited his home in the company of his daughter but he had no idea where he worked.

“She is an adult and I was not following much about their relationship. I even heard of their engagement over the media,” Mr Maribe stated.
